Ronald L. Langerud, 79, of Forest City, died at his home on Monday, July 6, 2015.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Friday, July 10, 2015 at Cataldo-Schott Funeral Home, 505 North Clark St., Forest City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Pastor Jim Mantel officiating.
Interment will be held in Grant Center Cemetery, rural Fertile, Iowa.
Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City.

Ronald LeRoy Langerud was born October 22, 1935 in the Forest City Hospital, the son of Elmer and Bernice (Holland) Langerud. He was raised on a farm 3 miles north of Forest City on HWY 69; he grew up with his first cousins, Vince, Chuck and Karen. They were raised more as siblings than cousins. He went to country school from kindergarten through eighth grade. He graduated from Forest City High School in 1953. While growing up he attended West Prairie Church in Leland.
He was married to Joan Hill on May 27, 1955 at the Congregational Church in Forest City one day prior to Roger and Mary Schaefer, they have remained life-long friends.
He worked for Carl Larson in Fertile, Hansen Hardware in Forest City, owned and operated Langerud Plumbing and Heating in Forest City with Ron and Vince, Peterson & Son Construction in Leland, Winnebago Housing Division and the Forest City School System as a bus driver.
He served on the Forest City Fire Department for over 25 years, past president of the Forest City Jaycees and was a current long time member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
He loved spending time at his lake cottage at Lake Frances near Mankato, MN for more than 30 years. He liked playing cards and games and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife Joan of Forest City; two sons, Mark and wife Kim Langerud and Robert and wife Julie Langerud; grandchildren, Samantha (Steve) Boucher, Dan (Tori) Langerud, Ben Langerud, Taryn Brumm and McKinzie Langerud and two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Tyler Boucher; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Bernice Langerud and Karen Rollefson and parents-in-law, Merle and Edna Hill.
