Rose Beverly Trca, the daughter of Roy and Cora (Gates) Schaefer was born on August 3, 1931 on the family farm in Liberty Township, Hancock County. She attended Liberty No. 9 country school and Klemme Public School, graduating in 1948. On April 24, 1950 she was united in marriage to Dennis Trca at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan. Together, they raised four children. They lived on the family farm until 1972 when they moved into Garner. Through the years Rose was employed by Zrostlik Tire Shop, Trca’s A&W in Britt, Hancock County Care Facility and Garner-Hayfield Community Schools. She was a dedicated volunteer in her community and church. On her own and with friends she joyfully created countless quilt-blankets and baby layettes for those in need, knitted baby afghans for family and friends, and collected household goods and clothing for the Pine Ridge and Rosebud Reservations in South Dakota. Rose cherished her Catholic faith and devotion to the Blessed Mother. She enjoyed genealogy, old photos, socializing, visiting those in nursing and group homes, and delighted in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Catholic Workman FCSLA Branch 51 and Catholic Daughters of America.
Rose is survived by her four children, Steve Trca of Garner, Sara Ristau of Klemme, Stan Trca of Garner and Sandra (Bruce) Trca-Black of Story City; six grandchildren, Sheila (Brad) Baldwin, Amy (Adam) Butterfield, Kris (Christopher) Nolte, Ryan Ristau, Rick Ristau (fiancée, Darcy Kohlmeyer) and Cade Black; five great-grandchildren, Mike Butterfield, Sasha Baldwin, Kira Baldwin, Hunter Nolte and Paisley Nolte; two sisters, Iris Rayhons of Clear Lake and Daisy (Jesse) Schwichtenberg of Garner; and many nieces and nephews.
