Roy A. Eckman

GARNER – Roy A. Eckman, 74, of Garner died Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Private graveside services will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel at a later date. There will be no visitation. Cataldo Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Roy Albert Eckman, the son of Albert and Helen (Gates) Eckman, was born November 3, 1941 in Utah. He grew up in Nevada City, CA where he graduated from high school. Roy served his country during Vietnam in the U.S. Navy. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to California where he worked as a building contractor. In 2007, he moved to Garner to be closer to his family. In 2013 he became a resident of Prairie View Apartments. He enjoyed reading western books and fly-fishing.

Roy is survived by his two sons, Jamie Eckman (Jeanine) of Clear Lake and Jeff Eckman (Ashley) of Mason City; and seven grandchildren, Nevaeh, Noelle, Declan, Angela, Andrea, Benjamin and Caytlynn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Margaret and Donna; and a brother, Bobbie
