FOREST CITY - Ruby A. Huisinga, age 88, of Forest City, died Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City.
As per her wishes, her body has been donated to the University of Iowa for medical research.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 16, 2009 at the Woden Christian Reformed church in Woden with inurnment at a later date.
Ruby Arlene Huisinga (Hart) daughter of Robert and Stella (Stark) Hart was born on Dec. 10, 1921 in Wayne County, Iowa. Ruby received her education in rural schools and moved to Winnebago County with her parents in 1930. She graduated from the Forest City High School in 1939.
Ruby was united in marriage to Jacob (Jake/Bud) Huisinga on June 4, 1943 in the Woden Christian Reformed church at Woden, Iowa. Ruby and Jake farmed south of Woden on the family farm until July of 1971 when they moved to Forest City. Ruby worked at the Coast to Coast Store in Forest City for 2 and a half years before retiring.
Ruby loved to cook, bake, sew and most of all loved the time spent with her family and grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are two sisters: Helen Beverlin of Hersher, IL and Jean Auchampach of Garner, IA, and a brother James Hart of Estherville, IA. Her three sons: Harold and wife Kathy of Allen, TX and their daughter Holly (Jeff) Swartwout; Robert and wife Debra of Jacksonville, FL and their daughters Tamara (Larry) Anderson, Angela O'Brien, Sara (Douglas) Snead, Fay Mercer and son Brent and wife Tammy; and Gary and wife Sandi of Forest City and their daughters Mindi (John) Backer, Marci (Scott) Richie, and Melissa (Mark) Ball, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jake, a sister Naida Clark and 2 brothers, Richard (Dick) Hart and Barney Hart.
