Sandra K. Hanson, 67, of Forest City died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 30, 2014.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 North Clark St, Forest City, Iowa with a prayer service at 6:00 P.M.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Rev. Rodd Hopp officiating. Private family inurnment will be in Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Sandra K. Hanson memorial fund in care of the family.
Sandra K. Hanson was born June 3, 1947 in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Everett and Dorothy (Stangler) Hanson. She graduated from Britt High School in 1976. She was married to Richard Hanson on September 1, 1979 in Crystal Lake, Iowa. Sandra worked for Winnebago Industries for many years. She also worked at the Winnebago County Home and Forest City Community Hospital.
Sandra enjoyed crocheting, quilting and sewing. Her many afghans, baby blankets and quilts were many times donated for others to enjoy. She also liked watching NASCAR, was an avid reader and also going camping with her family. Family was very important to her and she enjoyed the time she spent with them all, especially her grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her hugs and kisses and her generosity and love she showed everyone. Sandra will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Sandra is survived by her husband, Richard Hanson of Forest City; children, Kevin (Mary) Ganseveld of Forest City, John Ganseveld of Garner, Jodi (Dale) Degner of Dysart, IA, Chad (Marcy) Hanson of Forest City and Tanya Droessler of Forest City; fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother, Du Wayne (Deb) Hanson of San Antonio, TX and sister, Rosalyn (Wayne) Berhow of Kanawha and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
