Shannon Gene Torkelson born in Britt Iowa September 12, 1976 the son of Carroll Torkelson and Linda Hoffman Torkelson. Shannon graduated from Forest City High School in 1995. Shannon worked cooking at the Bungalo restaurant in Forest City after school.
Shannon then started working construction at Holland Contracting with his dad, where everyone started calling him Carroll which led to some funny phone calls between the wrong Carrolls. He worked there for 18 years and then switched to Kingland Construction so he could be home with his family and not travel so far on jobs.
He loved spending time with his family doing things like fishing out of his boat and cruising around in his old 1940 Chrysler.
He had so many friends from past and present that he loved just hanging out with and joking around with. You could usually find him sitting in his garage grilling and sharing a laugh and beer with friends.
Shannon was a stand up guy with a big heart; he was always ready to help out a friend in need no matter what. He touched a lot of lives and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by the love of his life, Kari; son, Hollis; step-daughters, Page and Tiffany and brother in law, Josh. Also survived by sister, Melody Soldwisch and husband Scott of Forest City; plus many many cousins and aunts and uncles.
He is preceded in death by grandparents; parents, Carroll Torkelson and Linda Hoffman Torkelson.
