THOMPSON - Steven W. Mattison, age 58 of Thompson, died Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa.
Memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home 505 N Clark St Forest City Iowa.
Inurnment will be at Linden Lutheran Cemetery in rural Thompson.
There will be no visitation.

Steven Wayne Mattison was born on May 26th, 1952 to Harry and Marlys (Wessels) Mattison. He graduated from Thompson Community School in 1970. He then moved to Galveston, Texas where he worked on a shrimp boat and later worked doing road construction from Texas to Iowa. He then owned his own company, Island Painting, opereating throughout Houston and Dallas. He then worked for Seafares International Union along the Eastern coast in Texas. He later worked for Moran Towing out of Baltimore, MD. In 1986, he started working for G&H Towing in Galveston, TX as a Chief Boating Engineer up to his retirement in 2005.
On September 5th, 1978, he was united in marriage to Sharon Kriger in Franklin, LA. They were blessed with two children; Doria on May 8, 1982 and Matthew on July 20th, 1986.
Steve was an avid fisherman, enjoyed playing guitar, singing and writing his own music. In 1994, he released his own CD.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon, his son, Matthew (Jessica), and granddaughter Chloe, of Alvin, TX, two brothers, Dennis of Thompson, IA and Mark of Des Moines, IA, two sisters, Karen Carpenter of Des Moines, IA and Jodi Volsen of Leland, IA. One brother-in-law, Mike Anderson of Galveston, TX. Two nieces, Courtney (Luke) Payton of Des Moines, Haley Volsen of Leland, IA, two great nephews, Blayze and Jaxon Payton.
He was preceded in death by his beloved loving daughter, Doria (2006), his mother (2009), his father (1996), and two brothers, Robert (2002) and Donald in infancy.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
