GARNER - Timothy J. Lauritsen, 59, of Garner died Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at his best friend's home in Forest City, ending his battle with lung cancer.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 26, 2012 at Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St., Forest City, Iowa with Pastor Tom Dettmar officiating.

Inurnment will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, October 26, 2012 at Superior Township Cemetery in rural Superior, Iowa.

Timothy John Lauritsen was born into this world as Timothy John Craig, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Craig of Armstrong, Iowa and twin brother to Thomas Ward Craig. Art and Ruth Lauritsen lived on a farm north of Superior, they had three daughters and a strong desire for sons. God's hand was at work already....Ruth's sister Anita and husband Eldon Tostenrud were living in Armstrong and were made aware of a family in their community who had newly born twin boys they felt they would not properly be able to care for. The blessed word "adoption" came forth and Art and Ruth Lauritsen were all over it! Right before their first birthday, Tim became Timothy John Lauritsen and Tom became Thomas Arthur Lauritsen, sons of Arthur and Ruth Lauritsen, brothers to Sandra Lou Lauritsen Lackey Binkley and Glenna Rae Lauritsen Kaltved and deceased sister Ellen Marie Lauritsen. As if two baby boys were not enough, God decided to send another son two years later. God blessed them with their thrid son, Donald Duane Lauritsen.

Tim spent 30 years with the woman he dearly loved...Glenda Keough. They were blessed with a son, Cody John Lauritsen. That family time also included Tim's daughter, Lisa Marie Bjerke, daughter of Jodi Vorthrems.

Most of Tim's adult life was spent in the Forest City area. His passions were building and driving Demolition Derby cars, outdoor activities, hunting, fishing and spending many hours in his shop on the farm.

When Tim was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, his only request was that he not die alone. Glenda fulfilled that request with compassion, loving care and lasting friendship.
